Juvenile Justice Services Office Descriptions
The Office of Early Intervention Services
Oversees programs for youth who are less delinquent than those in Division custody. The Office’s primary goals are to prevent youth from going further into the juvenile justice system and keep youth in their homes. Programs include:
- Receiving Centers
- Youth Services Centers
- Home Detention
- Diversion Services
- State Supervision Programs
- Work Programs
The Office of Community Programs
Provides community-based services to youth ordered to JJS custody along the Wasatch front. Services include:
- Case Management
- Observation and Assessment (O&A)
- Community-based Programs
- Transition Services
The Office of Correctional Facilities
Administers locked facilities including:
- Locked Detention
- Secure Care
The Office of Rural Programs
Delivers a full range of early intervention and correctional services in Utah’s rural areas. The office provides programs in ten rural communities across Utah. Each operates a number of residential and non-residential programs including:
- Locked Detention
- Diversion
- Shelter Care
- Youth Services
- Observation & Assessment
- Secure Care
Most centers also have programming space that may be used for education services, Detention alternatives, and Receiving Center functions.
